Frequently Asked Questions - Summary

You will find answers here to questions that are most commonly asked of us. Take the time to check if your concern has been addressed before contacting our support staff.

If you have any questions, or require our assistance, you may contact us by email. We do not answer telephones and we do not respond to requests received by fax.

Do your MIDI files contain embedded lyrics ? Top of page

The majority of our MIDI files have embedded on-screen synchronised lyrics, specifically catalogue numbers that have the following prefixes: CA, CE, CF, CK, CL, ME, MK, and ML. Also, all items where the catalogue number begin with the letter "C" are ALSO available in the CD+G and MP3+G audio formats.

How long will it take before I receive my order ? Top of page

MIDI format: Using our 100% automated system, completed credit / debit card or PAYPAL orders can be processed and delivered (via email) within seconds. Orders are shipped as a single compressed file (zip) where all the MIDI files and the packing slip are assembled. This shipping method is not only faster in transit, but is also safer and the integrity of the order contents is assured. Many tools available for processing compressed files (archives), including free software. An excellent example is winzip, which is a very popular tool and a free evaluation version is available.

MP3 format: Due to the size of audio files, subsequent emails with file attachments will be sent to you to complete the order.

NOTE: It is possible that some email applications do not permit sending or receiving certain types of file attachements in order to prevent transmission of malware, viruses, worms, etc. Verify the security parameters of your system to determine how file attachments are handled.

IMPORTANT: In order to ensure optimal usage of our automated order processing system, do NOT enter any information in the 'Special Instructions' space on the order form unless required. This action interrupts the automated system and sends the order to the studio for whatever manual editing is required. Leaving this space blank on the order form will result in the order being instantly processed / shipped out by email within seconds.

Can I download my orders ? Top of page

All clients that are registered users in our system have the ability to download previous orders. To begin, you must log in to the system with your username and password. Then, click on the (blue) 'Orders' link at the top of the page to see your history.

MIDI format: For each completed transaction, the word 'Download' appears near the end of each line in the 'Status' column. Click on this word to retrieve the entire order.

MP3 format: Click on the checkbox in the details column of the list to display the order contents, then click on the downwards-facing arrow at the end of each line to download the individual backing tracks. For catalogue items that begin with the letter "C", a zip file containing the MP3 and it's associated .CDG file is downloaded.

My system doesn't support ZIP files. What can I do ? Top of page

From the order form or the user profile screen, simply change the 'Receive attachments' parameter from the default value 'ZIP' to 'Separate (no compression)'. This will allow the attachements (MIDI files and receipt) of the order to be sent as separate files.

I wish to pay with a credit card. How does it work ? Top of page

MIDI-PRO offers an efficient and secure method for credit card payments. Settle your orders using the INTERNETSECURE payment gateway. Choose this option at the "Payment Method" screen.

You may also use the PAYPAL service to pay for credit card orders.

If you are not comfortable using these methods, we offer the following alternatives.

NOTE: We strive for same-day order processing when manual payment methods such as ACCÈS-D or direct-deposit are used, and a maximum delay of 48 hours is always respected. That being said, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have received your material within that timeframe.

What is the difference between a type 0 and a type 1 midifile ? Top of page

Type 0 - A single track which contains multiple midi channels.
Type 1 - Multiple tracks with a single midi channel per track.

What equipment do you suggest using with your backing tracks ? Top of page

For best results, our backing tracks require high-quality professional equipment. We strongly suggest an audio source (sound card, keyboard, module etc.) with a minimum of 64 voices. All of our midifiles strictly adhere to the General MIDI (GM-1) specification.

How many instruments are used in a backing track ? Top of page

The instruments that are heard in the original recordings will the same ones heard in our backing tracks. However, the specifications of the GM standard allow a maximum of sixteen instruments to be played simultaneously, and this can sometimes bring about certain compromises. Some elements of an orchestral passage would be grouped together, such as a string ensemble, for example.

Which e-mail service should I use to receive my orders ? Top of page

It is strongly suggested NOT to use free email services such as CARAMAIL, FREE, HOTMAIL etc. to receive correspondance from us. Due to high volume, these systems are often overloaded and delivery problems exist where our messages (and orders) are sometimes refused and/or the attached files are corrupted. Receiving correspondance from us at your primary email address would be ideal.

Do you have the new song by ... ? Top of page

The best way to know what we have 'in stock' is to use the search engine on the website, or to download our catalog. This file is updated on a regular basis.

I've made my deposit but I haven't received my order. Why is that ? Top of page

In order to ensure prompt delivery, please notify us of the date and the location of your direct deposit or money transfer. For security reasons, we do not process unidentified deposits. They will be placed 'on hold' until we receive payment notification from the client.

Direct deposit - We require specific information on each deposit in our account as the name of the client does not appear on the transaction. The client must supply the TRANSIT number of the caisse where the deposit was made in order for us to make the connection. This number appears on the receipt received from the bank teller at the counter.

Money transfer - The client must notify us once the transfer has been completed and especially advise us if the NAME of the person making the transfer is different than the name that appears on the order.

How can I hear the quality of your backing tracks ? Top of page

In order to hear samples of our work, all you need to do is use the search engine on the site or browse our catalog. Click on the title of the chosen song to open the details page. Then click on the word 'SAMPLE' to hear an excerpt of the backing track.

The format used for samples is MPEG Layer 3 (mp3). We suggest using winamp for playback although many applications exist that support this format.

Do you accept special requests ? Top of page

Your suggestions are always welcome, but it is simply not possible to produce all the requests that we receive. We do a significant amount of 'custom programming' for our clients, and though it is always possible that we produce the piece that you are looking for, we can't make any promises.

We suggest that you look at this service, and if it is suitable for you, it will be our pleasure to produce the midifile for you.

I wish to order a backing track that is not listed. How do I go about this ? Top of page

Once we have confirmed that the backing track that you are looking for is NOT in our catalog, enter the catalog number "MM9000" into the search engine and add this item to the shopping cart. Then enter the details of the non-listed backing track in the "Special Instructions" area on the order form.

I've received my order. Where are my midifiles ? Top of page

Orders are now shipped as a single compressed file (zip) where all the midi files and the packing slip are assembled. This shipping method is not only faster in transit, but is also safer and the integrity of the order contents is assured. There are many tools available for processing compressed files (archives), including free software. An excellent example is winzip, which is a very popular tool and they have a free evaluation version on thier website.
